DRAB to FAB?

As most of you know, we just made a move and I've lost my creative-ness in this chaos so I thought two brains is better than one!
We have this great little "nook" in the house that I am using as the dining area...
The new home came with curtains and for a lack of a better word, they are BORING!
They match the wall color but we need something to make it POP!
This is where I need your help,
What color should they be?
They have those plain white tension rods that NEED TO GO and plain tan color tab top curtains that are boring!
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

  1. I am always a fan of natural earthy tones, appeals to the eye. With the color of the table I think some shade of light moss green. And I like the shear type curtains, I feel they bring in the most sun light. If it were my house though I would probably have bright colors and prints right out of the 70s. ;)

  2. If it were me, I would paint the walls a dark tan color to make the curtains pop. A can of paint is cheaper than all new curtains anyway! :) And I would get black decorative curtain rods instead of the white. They would work well with the other black accents of the room.

  3. I like the black curtain rod idea. Maybe red curtains or sew big black stripes on the white curtains

  4. I have an idea: Get some fabric paint in a color that matches your rug(looks gray from the pict. or a black to compliment the table) and a cool geometric stencil and get to it...on the existing curtains. You will be amazed! And if you don't like it, at least it won't be so boring...like my bathroom!
